Collaboration at work in Harlesden

North London - together we’re stronger

CONWAY AECOM and Ringway Jacobs were ready for the most ferocious storm to hit the UK in over 10 years. Over the weekend the team ensured that all unnecessary traffic management was collected and stored safely in the respective depots. Operational staff were on the network from 3:30am to start the clean-up operation and over 180 emergency calls were received, relating specifically to fallen trees, debris, flooding and electrical issues.

The North teams together had an average response time of 29 minutes and a clearance time of 85 minutes, the teams worked quickly and effectively and when CONWAY AECOM needed a Vactor unit to assist with the large amount of flooding on the A41 and the A406 at Doggs Lane and Brentfield, Ringway Jacobs were happy to assist and as a result of this collaboration there were no severe congestion alerts on the network. This was further aided by co-ordinating the emergency response from the London Hub.

CONWAY AECOM were invited to Stratford to assist Ringway Jacobs in the laying of 6700m2 of blue surfacing on the cycle superhighway extension (CSH2). CONWAY AECOM installed 1500m2 of anti-skid over four shifts. Tight deadlines and the weather meant that we had to work irregular hours to ensure that the segregated cycle superhighway was ready for the official opening on 7th November 2013 by Boris Johnson.

Daniel Thomas, Major Projects Programme Manager for Ringway Jacobs said:

"CONWAY AECOM did an exceptional job under the circumstances and they can be very proud of their involvement in CSH2."

The following week we aided the London Borough of Barnet with their EPA duties through our continuous collaborative approach. CONWAY AECOM had committed their traffic management stock and instead of rescheduling the closure they asked neighbouring contractor Ringway Jacobs for assistance, this support allowed for a consistence high level of performance.

Matt Joel, Reactive & Routine Maintenance Manager for CONWAY AECOM said:
